Beau Beakhouse in the Spotlight

Beau W. Beakhouse, whose poem ‘Water Runs Endlessly’ is published in the debut issue of Lucent Dreaming, is a writer/artist in Cardiff. He mostly works with text and video. He is particularly interested in the spiritual, the metaphysical, the poetic, the radical, the experimental, the avant-garde & in small press publishing. He co-edits LUMIN Journal.

What does writing mean to you?

Writing is a means to express indescribable experiences; an attempt. A direct action to convey the personal/transcendental.

What writing/creative projects are you currently working on?

I’m working towards a small second publication. So far I design & make the books myself, so the text for this is finished. It’s called ‘An Exploration of Practice’, it’s a sort of prose/ poem/ essay about my own formations of a spiritual practice.

What are you most excited about right now and for the future?

Still for the radical potentials of an energised creative scene. For future collaborations & networks of support for LUMIN, and from us for others.

How and where do you find inspiration to write?

Mostly from clearing my head, relaxing myself, allowing moments of inspiration to come. Calmness in myself seems to allow this to happen more easily. But also from spontaneous ideas that can come at any time.

What advice would you give those who want to do what you do?

Follow a kind of overall guiding process.

Where can people see more of you and your work?

I have a short chapbook of poetry called ‘Poems from California’ which is available from LUMIN. This is poetry from quite a while ago now. I have some work in journals including Porridge & The Projectionists Playground, and a few poems coming up in the next issue of Theta-wave. In general I’m currently creating through LUMIN in many ways, so following @luminjournal (luminjournal.com) or @BeauWBeakhouse to see more!
