Lucent Dreaming is managed and created by our editorial board and staff.

Jannat Ahmed

22883205_1535761423179853_1794900611_nJannat is a recent English Literature graduate and expert project-starter. She enjoys anything she is capable of envying and secretly compares LD to Lovegood’s The Quibbler with confessedly more fiction. She is editor-in-chief at Lucent Dreaming.

Jess Beynon

xmcU6utu_400x400Jess is a year old graduate who now has an understanding of the real world (Spoiler: it’s only fun 2% of the time). She likes good ghost stories, sitting on tables and creating; whether it be stories or sketches, her mind is always racing about something. When she’s not editing issues of the fabulous Lucent Dreaming, she works at a theatre where she hopes to be a producer some day in the not too distant future. Best advice she’s been given? Either ‘Write drunk, edit sober’ (Hemingway) or ‘Be less like Hamlet and more like Iago’ (Unspecified Literature Professor).

Joachim Buur

22219163_1571884242872442_1070838002_oJoachim currently works in publishing for little payment, has written the least of all LD team members and composes dead-in-the-water poems. One of Lucent Dreaming’s founding editors, he is LD’s all-purpose guy (he made the logo). Besides that he likes to gorge on  information on all manner of topics, Wikipedia being his favourite restaurant. He also wishes the real world was science fiction. His motto? Eyes, being photonic receptacles, can see light everywhere.

Jonas David

Jonas David is a science fiction writer born, raised and living in the Seattle area. His stories have appeared in Fireside Magazine, Daily Science Fiction, IGMS and others. At Lucent Dreaming, he provides slush reading and editing expertise. He is a whisk(e)y and beer connoisseur who enjoys babbling about Star Trek, and lamenting the decline of thoughtful entertainment in our explosion-obsessed world.  His own writing can be found at, and you can follow him on Twitter @thejonasdavid.

Lisa Byus

Lisa is a dutiful administrative something-or-other by day, and by night, she’s the same thing, except it’s nighttime and she’s at home. At Lucent Dreaming, she is one of our editors and in charge of all typos. On the weekends, she enjoys reading history and philosophy and serenading the ingrates of her city with Disney Princess songs from her apartment window.
