wrong sometimes and she fails to be
popular, she fails to be sorry and she fails to let
being wrong halt her, worry her, wear her down
and she does what she does and she does not
try to get it right and she isn’t even sorry
for the angry times, for the shouting,
she shouts and yes,
if she is scared then it is her own fear and
if she is here it is in her own being and
sometimes she bundles up and sometimes she cries
in the dark and she wakes and she does,
she does and she dances
she dances when she wants to
and she fails to smile
and she fails to be tidy
and she fails to fit
and she fails to mind
and she does what she does and she does it
well sometimes and secretly I whisper her
she fails to be sorry and she fails to be wrong
and she does what she does and she fails to be worn
and she fails to be won, and she does
not
stop.
