We’re so excited to introduce Kandance Siobhan Walker and Matt Kendrick, our respective poetry and flash fiction judges for the new Lucent Dreaming Prize, with a top prize of £1000 in three categories: poetry, flash fiction and short story.
Both judges will be reading the top 50 longlisted entries in their respective categories.
More about the judges
Kandace Siobhan Walker is a writer and filmmaker from Wales and elsewhere. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Poetry Wales, The White Review and the Guardian. Her most recent short film Last Days of the Girl’s Kingdom aired on Channel 4’s Random Acts series. She lives in London.
Matt is a writer, editor and creative writing teacher based in the East Midlands, UK. His short fiction has been widely published in literary journals and listed in writing competitions. He won the Retreat West quarterly flash fiction prize in June 2020 and placed second in the Reflex flash fiction prize in June 2021. His work has been included on the Biffy50 list and in Best Microfiction as well as being nominated for Best of the Net, Best Small Fictions and the Pushcart Prize. He works as a freelance editor and creative writing tutor, drawing on his knowledge of languages and other art forms to inform his workshops on lyrical writing and glorious words.
