Blake’s Riddle by William Christofides (Lucent Dreaming Issue 8)

The Flaming Poet Far Above
Saw the World in Bonds of Love,
Yet when He Fell to Realms Below
He Saw the Same in Chains of Woe.

Through Emerald Courts and Lakes of Fire
This Poet pluckt His Sacred Lyre,
Yet through it All He could not See
If Man was Bound or Man was Free.

William Christofides is an historian based in Cardiff, currently researching the intellectual heritage of British Idealism at the university. When not busy writing his thesis, he enjoys reading Philosophy and trying to square the circle. His love for literature began at age 14, listening to Bob Dylan and reading dangerous poetry anthologies. Since then he has filled several notebooks with scribbled verse and manifestos, some of which can be found on his website.
